If you’re gluten-intolerant, it can often be a little difficult to work out where to go to eat without wheat. Fortunately, more and more restaurants in Dubai are helping cater to individual dietary needs, whether it’s from the kitchens of plant-based cafes or hearty Italian restaurants offering special gluten-free menus.

Here’s our round-up of restaurants with amazing dishes that won’t mess up your digestive system.


With branches in JBR and City Walk, this cute little cafe takes their eggs seriously. If you are gluten free, just let the team know, and they’ll make their dishes specially to order so you can still enjoy their brunch and breakfast favourites.

Black Tap

When only a burger will cut it, head to Black Tap who do all of their amazing burgers with a gluten-free bun. If you want to be extra healthy, try their vegan burger, made of black bean, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro and vegan mayo. They also do three tacos for Dhs58, which can be served in a lettuce wrap. Choose between beef, chorizo and fish.

Asia Asia

If you love your sushi and sashimi, head to the What’s On Award-winning Asia Asia who are happy to cater to gluten-intolerant visitors.

One Cafe

Calling all vegans and the super health-conscious, the One Cafe at Life’n One is dedicated to providing its customers with an entirely plant-based menu offering wholesome salads, sandwiches, eggless omelettes and fresh juices.

Freedom Pizza

Gluten-free folk swear by Freedom Pizza’s delicious cauliflower-based pies. Even if you’re not gluten-free, this is a great option to satisfy your cravings with a lot less guilt.

On the upscale side, Zuma, the stunning Japanese restaurant in DIFC has a specially designed gluten-free menu that includes grilled meats, fish and delicate sushi bites. This place is perfect for that special birthday dinner or date night.
